Team Libya Journey With The Global Robotics Olympics 2019

the international journey

we start building our robot since the kit arrives, but we weren’t sure that we can go to the FIRST GLOBAL CHALLENGE because of the visa.

As you know we have tried from two years ago Participate in the competition, Every time, we went through the building experience in every detail, But when the competition is approaching we couldn’t go because we didn’t get the

Visa; Because of that we were disappointed.

Our hopes of going this year were too weak, especially when it was only a few days away from the competition and the tickets weren’t with us.

Finally came that day, the day that our mentor told us that the tickets had arrived and we will go to the UAE for the Olympics.

THE JOURNEY

Travel has become an easy, convenient and very fast way but in Libya, it is not.

October 21st, 2019

If you want to travel in Libya you have to go 200 km by car on a road that is not paved and tired to reach another city adjacent to the capital, after this We still had to go to

Tunisia for transit and We have encountered many problems at the airport because of the robot and the batteries, thank god we passed all the problems and we reached Tunisia. We have been exhausted two days without sleeping since we left Tripoli.

at Tunisia airport.

There were people who helped us a lot at Tunis airport and they were very proud of us for being there to represent Libya at the World Robot Olympiad, We are very grateful to them.

After a lot of trouble, we boarded the plane to go to Dubai.

We were all enthusiastic and at the same time we felt a very great sense of responsibility; because when we arrived we would not only represent ourselves but we would represent the whole country, and not like any country But a country the whole world fears because of the conditions

of war, under the name of terrorism, so our responsibility was great to change the world view on Libya.

Onboard with Emirates flight cabin crew

Five hours later, we arrived in Dubai, The reception was very nice and we were very pleased to see them waiting for us.

At Dubai Airport

The first thing we did after we arrived at the hotel was sleeping because of the tired trip…..zzzzz

We are almost one of the first countries to arrive in Dubai and we were eagerly waiting to see the other teams very impatiently So much so that we made videos for them.

Because of our early arrival, this gave us the opportunity to train and gave us enough time to discuss team rules with each other and to take a tour around the city. Teams are starting up arriving and we are happy to start making new friends with other teams

With Team Palestine

The challenge has begun and all the teams were preparing, Buses left, Everyone was excited about the bustle of the competition. After we arrived at the Arena we started to equip our bit with our culture.

Team Libya Pit

We come back to the hotel at the last bus to prepare ourselves to wear the traditional costume, and we were late so we were in a hurry as always as we.

Opening Ceremony – Parade of Nations

The Opening  Ceremony was great we really enjoyed with the show, The idea of bringing Will I am was beautiful to extract all the negative energy and tension.

Many funny things happened that day such as We lost our baggage and the beautiful thing that we found them where we left them. The ceremony ends and it’s time to come back home to prepare for tomorrow, the first day of real matches.

The strategy of the robot was to collect micropollutants and store them in a box to place them at the second level, We also worked to push the macro pollutants to the first level, Unfortunately, our first practice match was horrible,

Our robot can’t do anything, we were Shocked, there is no time to rebuild new robot or to change the idea, We sat around the robot with all safety standards (as you know in urgency always accidents happen) and we were trying very hard maintenance in the fastest time.

Maintenance

the second practice match approached and We haven’t finished the maintenance work yet, but we can’t do anything except participate in the match and live in the details.

After losing the second practice match here we had to make a decisive decision and find out why our robot was falling when it hangs and find out why it didn’t work as required.

We solved the problem and found the first cause of the problem was the wrong weight distribution and we redistributed the weight as soon as possible.

The real matches came and thanks to God we had finished the work and we had won in our first real match, Although we were not working on Shutter or any mechanism for the third level, but we were developing a plan to play on it with other teams with us in the same alliance this was given  us a great chance of winning.

The most thing that gave us confidence and made us continue fighting to get a good position in the competition is our parents and the rest of the team, they were meeting every day at the time of the matches to see us and watch how we play during the matches.

We can not forget the details between the matches with other teams where we visit teams and take pictures with them and exchange giveaways and also we open songs and start dancing and then join us the rest of the teams we really were having fun.

After the matches ended and we knew that we would not qualify for the final games we were very disappointed and saddened so much, after all the fatigue and all the distance we have traveled, but this was our destiny and we accepted it thankful and satisfied with what we have reached.

After all, We were very pleased with the mentor’s award because he really deserved it and deserved more.

outStanding Leader/Mentor award goes to Team Libya Leader

We were very surprised by the Sofia International journey award and we were very happy because we took the International award for Libya

Awarded again!
3 Awards for Team Libya
(Nothing is better than the taste of success)

We returned back to Libya and we are proud that we have done the mission very well and made a remarkable change in people’s ideas on Libya.

Our biggest success was to see the Libyans happy with the result we reached, even if it was not the first rank but our participation alone was a great pride for us.

The experience alone was charming and fun, it will remain a carved memory that will not be forgotten throughout our lives, It was really worth all the fatigue and hardships we went through

Literally thanks to the FIRST that made us live all these charming moments, we are very grateful to them.

Team Libya, LOVE
